Job Description

The Security Specialist is responsible for providing technical and analytical support for departmental responsibilities related directly to maintaining an enterprise wide closed-circuit television system (CCTV), access control system and physical security. Responsibilities include but are not limited to on-site security assessments, assisting in preparing facility security standards, assisting with preparing budgets and security related analytics. This position requires high level analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels on security issues and solutions.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Supports the enterprise wide CCTV project to include establishing and managing user accounts.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for CCTV project for facilities nationwide.

  • Assists with both physical and technology site security assessments.

  • Using Digital Watchdog, establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for the CCTV system and follows up with stake holders to ensure they are adhering to the schedule.

  • Using Digital Watchdog and the S2 Security System, creates and implements system analytics and reporting tools to be used with the CCTV system to identify security patterns/trends. Provides leadership with recommendations for improvement.

  • Prepares and presents training to new end users on the use of the CCTV system. Administers the S2 Security access control system and works closely with the security team.

  • Assists with internal investigation when needed.

  • Assists with managing security (guard, video, alarm and access) vendors to ensure services and products supplied are appropriate and cost effective.

  • Travels domestically up to 25% of the time, sometimes on short notice.

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with video system architecture and installation, including familiarity with network video recorders and monitoring.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with system maintenance, patching cycles, etc.

  • Demonstrated a basic understanding of physical security technology.

  • Strong ethics and the ability to keep information confidential.

  • An understanding of basic Project Management best practices.

  • Proven ability to be proactive and effective under deadline pressure.

  • Ability to inspire trust and confidence through excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed environment, including operating with sensitivity to and an understanding of cultural differences around the nation.

  • Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid communications, recommendations, and plans of action.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
